Upload it now and get rewarded! Version 9 of Avast conflicted with my McAfee Firewall rendering my machine offline. Only by disabling one or the other could I even look up a host name. Avast loses this contest, McAfee stays. I spent an entire evening on this nonsense. WinXP SP3. Good but Full description is not here. Seems to use fewer resources than previous versions. Boot time defrag nice option though slow on multiple drive set ups. All annoying sounds and pop ups can be dis and re-enabled.

Defaults are quite well thought out. I was pessemistic at first, I doubted any free product could compete with the commercial products but much to my surprise it is fabulous compared to the big M.

Like other reviewers it found trojans the big guy did not. It does not suck the life out of a PC, nor does it delay startup by a half hour with no way to stop the AV process's scanning memory, boot sectors and the like.

Big Fee are you listening? I like the user interface. I don't like the code updates as they pop up annoying messages but for free, this really is a good product.

No excuse for not having an AV running, especially this one. If you need an AV product, get this. It want's me to buy the full Program. This is by far best AV that I have been using. I install it on all of my client machines. Though the interface needs updating, the software is light, not intrusive, and extremely effective.

This review is for 4. Interface can be changed btw. So f-secure was just taking my computers juice for nothing When i first started to use avast, norton or f-secure didnt have this feature. This means avast wont use your hard drive more than it needs thus making your computer usage alot faster compared to situation when antivirus needs to scan your hard drive when you use it unless you have good ssd.

Best Antivirus I've ever tried. Been using it for over a year and a half now and not one virus yet. Uses very little resources too. Ok this is a decent antivirus program. I have a 2. Yes you read right. Sometimes it is hard to do anything else. Also the system overall memory only shot up to about mb compared to AVG which would sometimes shoot up to over mb with the same settings and while I firefox is up with 3 tabs and one of the sites being flash heavy. Can check your email, P2P clients like Utorrent or limewire while you are downloading.

It also checks your network connections, Instant Messages, webmail and internet browsing. I have two harddrives. A 40gb and then a gb and don't need every folder to be scanned.

So I like I can choose which folders not to be scanned. This is also a great feature of AVG 7. It is terrible. But some people may not know that. You have to go to the start menu or click on the desktop icon to access that. Again yes this program doesn't use up alot of resources I still don't like that many processes from one program running in the background. Even if you uncheck all of the protections in your Avast shield applications they still will run in the background just that they will be diasabled.
